In 1998, Matthieu Barret took over his grandfather’s small family vineyard in Cornas. The estate began with about 10 hectares of east-facing terraces planted on heavily degraded granite soils known as “gore,” and over time expanded to more than 20 hectares in and around Cornas.

From the outset, Matthieu has championed biodynamic viticulture, very low yields (rarely over 25 hl/ha), and minimal inputs in the cellar.

The result is wines of striking personality and a distinctive energy, now considered icons of the modern style of the appellation.
