Louis Henry Denis Jadot founded Maison Louis Jadot in 1859. Even before that, the history of Maison Jadot was rooted in the vineyards, beginning with the Jadot family’s purchase of Clos des Ursules, a Beaune Premier Cru, in 1826.

After the death of the last male members of the family, veteran manager André Gagey took over the business, which was later purchased by the Koch family, American importers of Jadot. Today, the company is led by Pierre-Henri Gagey, assisted by head winemaker Jacques Lardière, who has been responsible for the company’s wines since 1970.

This family-owned wine company produces and markets only wines with Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée. It operates its own vineyards and also purchases grapes from other growers, controlling 270 hectares (670 acres) of vineyards across Burgundy (including Beaujolais Crus).

Louis Jadot also owns vineyards in the Mâconnais region: Domaine Ferret in Fuissé, and in the Beaujolais region at Moulin à Vent: Château des Jacques. In 1996, Louis Jadot partnered with Tonnellerie Vicard to create its own cooperage, named Cadus, which produces French oak barrels crafted in the Burgundy tradition.
