STEPHANE OGIER

/Region/ Northern Rhône – Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Collines Rhodaniennes  /Varieties/ Syrah for reds; Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne for whites          /Founded/1980s; Stéphane joined in 1997

The Ogier family domaine has been rooted for seven generations on the slopes of Ampuis, the heart of Côte-Rôtie. Until the early 1980s, the grapes were sold to négociants; from then on, the family began bottling their own wines. Stéphane Ogier joined the estate in 1997 and took over from his father Michel, bringing a more parcel-focused approach inspired by Burgundy.

Today he farms around 25 hectares spread across Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Côtes-du-Rhône and the IGP Collines Rhodaniennes. His work centers on identifying and vinifying each lieu-dit separately, seeking elegance, fine tannins and aromatic precision in both Syrah and Viognier. The Côte-Rôtie cuvées have become a modern benchmark for the appellation.
